Large Bowl with Three
Fishes Decor in Underglaze
Red
Ch'eng-hua period (A.D.
1465-1487)
Ming Dynasty
Diameter of mouth 21cm
This bowl has a flared
mouth, deep cavetto, a
slightly concave base, and
a low ring foot. The three
fish on the exterior are
rather abstract. Around
the base are incised lotus
petal motifs, and the base
is inscribed with the six-
character mark "Made in the
Ch'eng-hua reign of the
great Ming dynasty" in blue-
and-white.
